Alef

Alef is the first character of the Farsi and Dari alphabet. words "Iran" and "Afghanistan" both start with alef in Farsi and Dari written language. This is a straightforward AR work as a counter-monument for Afghan refugees in Iran. they suffered from racism and social and economic discrimination for many years in my country, Iran, and my city, Tehran so I believed we need a counter monument for them to remember the dark side of our society. the material, concrete, came from the reality that lots of afghans work in the construction industry and even they are well known as hardworking workers. the site, Farahzad valley in the north of Tehran, came from its contemporary history as the last hope for vulnerable social classes including Afghan refugees to live in Tehran at an affordable cost. This is a poor and Slumdog-like neighborhood at least in some parts surrounded by wealthy and expensive neighborhoods.
